Laurie will now travel to China for final
A glam Hamilton gran was crowned Mrs UK Classic last weekend – and will now jet off to China for the final.
Laurie Meisak (55) picked up the crown at the event which was held in Buckinghamshire on Sunday night.
The competition celebrates the achievements of today’s married women, aged 45 and over. Laurie, from Little Earnock was thrilled to win on the evening and said: “At the age of 55 I want to prove that beauty doesn’t have a shelf-life or a sell-by date, and being the mother of four children, I want to show all women that anything is possible at any age – even if you’re a grandmother!”
Her husband Kenny, who she has been married to for 36 years, was incredibly proud of his wife.
He said: “Laurie would describe herself as simply a mother, a friend, and a lifelong wife and partner.
“She is always self-effacing and thinks of herself as perfectly ordinary in every way. “In my eyes she is quite extraordinary. “Wherever she goes, she brightens other people’s days, especially mine!”
The competition, which celebrates married woman and their families, was held over two days alongside the Mrs England, Mrs Scotland and Mrs Wales events which involved 13 finalists from all over the UK coming together to learn about themselves and others, to raise money for charity and to attend several empowerment seminars for women.
Hannah Batten, the competition director, said she was also delighted for Laurie.
She added:“laurie is the perfect example of a modern woman. As well as running her own business, Laurie is a mother, a wife, a grandmother and a beautiful woman on the inside.”
Laurie decided to follow her daughter’s footsteps onto the catwalk and has received lots of encouragement from Amy Meisak (24), a former Miss Scotland finalist who has travelled all over the world taking part in pageants.
And now Laurie is thrilled to be the first woman from Scotland to win the prestigious Mrs UK Classic title and is delighted to be heading to China for the international final in January.
