Wait­ing times at Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal Hairmyres’ A&E depart­ment in­creased ac­cord­ing to lat­est sta­tis­tics.

Fig­ures pub­lished by NHS Scot­land show that 91.7 per cent of pa­tients were ad­mit­ted, trans­ferred or dis­charged within four hours for the week end­ing Sun­day, Au­gust 26.

The Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment tar­get is 95 per cent.

This was be­low the health board’s av­er­age of 93.2 per cent but slightly above the NHS Scot­land av­er­age of 90.3 per cent.

It was also be­low Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal Mon­k­lands in Air­drie, where 94.7 per cent were seen in the tar­get pe­riod, and Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal Wishaw which recorded a fig­ure of 93.2 per cent.

The number of pa­tients seen within four hours at Hairmyres fell from the pre­vi­ous week – with the sta­tis­tics record­ing a 2.3 per cent drop from 94 per cent.

Lat­est fig­ures show that 15 pa­tients waited over eight hours while three waited more than 12 hours.

This com­pares to nine pa­tients and four pa­tients, re­spec­tively, the pre­vi­ous week.
