SHOTTS ARE IN SEVEN HEAVEN

Burns grabs a hat-trick as Maryhill hammered

-

.............. 1 BA ............ 7 Shotts ace Danny Burns caused mayhem for Maryhill as his hat-trick helped batter the Glasgow side and move the visitors into fourth place in League One.

Burns got the rout underway by netting the opener and the lethal frontman quickly followed it up with a second.

Jordan Love made it 3-0, with Chris Faulds going on to notch a double as Shotts ran riot.

Stevie Aitken added a sixth, before Burns completed his hattrick.

“It was a good result and a good performance — we were 4-0 ahead at half-time — and it was a good three points,” said Shotts boss John Mckeown.

“We had a few players coming back from knocks but showed good form in the first half to bag four goals — and in the second half we just kept it going to finish things off.”

Blantyre Vics were also in goalscoring mood as they fought back from two goals down to win 5-2 against Port Glasgow — a result which lifts them into fifth spot.

Gary Campbell pulled one back after the break before Dale Jones equalised. The same player then made it 3-2 from the spot.

Goals from Ryan Connelly and Alex Sugden completed a remarkable turnaround for Vics.

Manager John Gibson said: “It was a great result overall. The first half left us 2-0 down, but we soon picked up after the break when we made a few positional changes.”

Elsewhere, Bellshill went down 2-1 to Ardrossan Winton Rovers.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time, a Paul Brennan wonderstrike offered Bellshill hope but they couldn’t find an equaliser.

Royal Albert lost 1-0 at home to East Kilbride Thistle.
