Michael has high hopes for townpool

-

Olympic silver medallist Michael Jamieson launched his Swim Academy at Hamilton College earlier this year.

The Academy, which is based in the school’s 25m pool, has been created to have a positive impact on Learn to Swim in Scotland and improve the Learn to Swim experience.

Co-founder of the Academy is Amanda Mcilvaney, who met Michael at a swimming event in Hamilton two years ago.

Michael, who has won a host of silver medals including 2012 Olympics and 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, said:“every learners’journey is unique and individual to them and should be treated as such.

“We’re passionate about supporting the development of identity, self-awareness and resilience in young people and our vehicle for this is swim.”

The Academy will create an environment full of positivity and encouragement of self-discovery. Programmes at every level are a swimmerled experience, complimented by the instructor’s knowledge, experience and skill.

The partnership will offer the community an Olympicled swim programme, which provides progression from infant beginners through to pre-club level.

The Swim Academy started this month and bookings can be made directly through www. mjswimacademy.com.
