Blantyre’s Calderglen Thistle Football Club have announced a new partnership with Coerver Coaching Scotland.

And to celebrate, the club organised a football-filled day at the Palace Sports Grounds last weekend to introduce the young players to the Coerver coaching style.

The Coerver model is a development programme aimed at young players aged five to 16-year-old of all abilities and is designed to create skilful, confident and technically strong players which will not only be hugely beneficial for all players, but will also give plenty food for thought for opponents every week.

The Coerver coaches will also be working very closely with all of the Calderglen Football Club coaches providing off-field support which will ultimately benefit all the players.

Coerver is a world-renowned teaching method which is incorporated into professional club academies such as Bayern Munich, Rangers and Benfica.

Head coach at Calderglen, Craig Owens, told the Advertiser: “It’s a real coup for us at Calderglen and we are all delighted to be working in partnership with Coerver.

“We will work hand-in-hand to assist Coerver achieve their aims as they expand into the grassroots game and the Coerver method will help us achieve the ambitions of all at Calderglen Thistle.

“We are holding another Coerver day for the 2009 and 2010 age groups on Saturday, September 22, at Hamilton Palace Sports Ground between 1.30pm and 4.30pm and we are appealing for any children in that age group who are looking to get involved in a local team to get in touch with me either by phone on 07572 166478 or email, craig@calderglenthistle.co.uk.”
