No Cheape trick at Racecourse finale
Hamilton Racecourse is set to wrap up its summer season next week, with a little help from a local songstress.
Lanarkshire singer Stephanie Cheape will perform on Sunday at the September Weekend Music Raceday, opening the show before 1980s Scottish pop legends Hipsway take to the stage and run through their repertoire of hits including The Honeythief and Tinder.
Named Scotland’s Best Unsigned Act at the Scottish Music Awards last year, Stephanie and her band will be performing tracks from their debut EP before an enthusiatic crowd of thousands.
Before the live music on Sunday, the racing action will take centre stage from 2pm with the feature race, the £12,500 EBF Stallions Scottish Premier Series Fillies’ Handicap Stakes, the highlight of the on-track action.
The very next day, the Les Hoey MBE Dreammaker Foundation Family Raceday will bring the curtain down on the season with a fun-filled afternoon of racing and family activities as once again the racecourse team is set to roll-out an array of fantastic children’s entertainment.
Attractions include giant inflatables, human table football, face painters, bungee trampolines, Wii Switch battle and much more.
Advance purchase tickets are available for the September Weekend Music Raceday now from just £25, with gates opening at noon.
Gates also open at noon for the Les Hoey MBE Dreammaker Foundation Family Raceday, with the first race taking place at 2pm. Tickets are priced at £13 when booked online in advance, and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
