Shotts defeat Shettlesto­n at Hannah Park

Shotts Bon Accord beat Shettlesto­n 3-1 at Hannah Park to claim third spot in the League One title race, with Blantyre Vics clocking up a 5-2 at Maybole to notch fourth place.

Both clubs are sitting on the 16-point mark – one point behind second-top Ardrossan Winton Rovers, with Shotts holding a better goal difference of five.

Bonny gaffer John Mckeown said: “It was a hard game – Shettlesto­n are a good side, but we played really well and took our chance to record our fifth league win.

“Danny Burns claimed another hat-trick to bring his goals tally for the season so far to 16!

“His first in 20 minutes was an excellent finish, his second a oneon-one with the keeper as he rolled the ball under his arms into the net and his third a good finish off a well-placed Allan Hunter pass.”

Blantyre Vics recovered from the loss of a 15th minute goal to take a 2-1 half-time lead, with goals from Craig Kerr then Nadeen Zeb. Gary Campbell was then sent off for violent conduct.

Dale Jones equalised from a penalty in 55 minutes after Zeb was tripped inside the box. Nadeem Zeb made it 4-2, then Gordon Douche took it to 5-2.

Manager John Gibson said: “Another good result – with players showed a lot of effort and determinat­ion to take it from being 1-0 down to finish 5-2 up.”

Meanwhile, Royal Albert produced a 6-0 victory away to Lugar Boswell Thistle, with Allan Campbell snatching a hattrick. Chris Dolan, Greg Fernie and Fraser Stobo were the other marksman.

Manager Jammie Nesbett said: “We played really well from start to finish, and look set for another 90 minutes.

“We’ve signed this week Stephen Feacon on loan from Rossvale.”

Elsewhere, Bellshill Athletic won 3-2 at Glasgow Perthshire. Paul Brennan headed Bellshill in front, but ‘Shire equalised through Davie Kirkwood to level the score at half-time.

Craig Small put ‘Shire ahead, but Jamie Stewart equalised off a Chris Burns then Connor Brannigan hit the winner for Bellshill.

Manager Robert Sneddon said; “A good result.”

Wishaw lost 1-0 at Port Glasgow.
