’Gow win puts them top

-

Lesmahagow’s 3-0 win at Vale of Clyde maintained their 100 per cent unbeaten away record and nudged them into top spot in Mcbookie.com League Two.

Vale threatened first, but Lesmahagow took the lead with Jordan Lithgow and Jason Thomson setting up Paul Woodlock, who fired an unstoppable shot into the net.

Thomson netted a second, but was ruled offside.

Sandy Thomson made a few saves in the ’Gow goal, before they doubled their lead 13 minutes into the second half when Jason Thomson crossed for Jonny Mcstay to score with a left-foot shot.

Woodlock scored his second of the afternoon from a Thomson cross in 68 minutes to round off the scoring.

Manager Robert Irving said:“that was an outstanding performance, which sends us back to the top of the league.”

Forth Wanderers beat Thorniewood 3-2 at Kingshill Park.

Nathan Cassidy gave the hosts a first-half lead, Damon Welsh levelled with a penalty, but two early second-half goals from Kris Jarvie put United under pressure, but Jordan Rennie netted Thorniewood’s second.

Newmains United lost 1-0 at Johnstone Burgh, with co-manager Craig Gupwell saying:“i’m just disappointed, but I have no complaints because the better team won.

“It took us a wee while to get used to the bigger park, but I can’t fault the effort.”
