Machan Trust anniversary celebrated
Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley was delighted to celebrate Larkhall’s Machan Trust’s 20th anniversary with the group.
The trust, established in 1998, works with children and young people from 5-18 years old within schools and community environments.
Set up as a joint churches initiative, their good work was quickly realised and the trust has grown rapidly over its 20 years.
They now operate across the wider Larkhall area and have made a positive impact in the community.
Angela recently lodged an early day motion in Westminster congratulating the group on their work.
Commenting, Ms Crawley said: “I really enjoyed meeting with the team at the Machan Trust in Larkhall today and congratulating them on their 20 year anniversary. The Trust has gone from strength to strength since opening in 1998 and are now operating over 40 groups a week in Larkhall, Netherburn, Stonehouse and Ashgill.
“They carry out some fantastic work, making a positive difference to the life chances of young people by providing activities, experiences and opportunities, and by doing so building a stronger community.
“The trust are a fantastic example of a strong community organisation and I look forward to working with them in the years to come.”
