Dalziel in semi-final
Dalziel lost 84-17 to a rampant Allan Glen’s side in Bishopbriggs on Saturday.
Alan Bowles and Andy Scott scored tries, while the Motherwell side were awarded a penalty try.
Dalziel will hope for better fortunes when they entertain fellow West League Division 1 strugglers Kilmarnock in the West Regional Shield semi-final at Dalziel Park.
That’s actually the first of a home double-header for Dalziel, as they also host the same opponents in West League Division 1 the following Saturday.
Having been idle for several weeks, Strathaven clocked up a good 24-20 West League Division 1 win over Loch Lomond, which moves them up to sixth place.
In Tennent’s National League 1 Hamilton will hope to kick-start their season as they host seventh-placed Gala at Laigh Bent on Saturday.
The Bulls will hope to build on their performance against GHA, if not the result, from last Saturday.
In the only other club rugby fixture, Tennent’s National League 2 leaders Biggar could be hosting a cracking game as Dumfries Saints visit.
Four points separates them from secondplaced Highland as sixth-placed Dumfries come calling, and there is all to play for.
Having lost their 10-game winning run on Saturday, the Hartree Mill side will be looking to get back on track.
League games kick-off at 2pm, with Dalziel’s semi-final at 1.30pm.
Meanwhile, Hamilton’s ladies’1st XV has joined Tennent’swomen’swest League 1, after Scottish Rugby confirmed league placings for the restructured 2019 set-up.
The restructuring process started in 2017 and clubs were invited to apply for the league they felt their women’s teams would be best placed to compete in.
Tennent’swomen’s West League 1 will consist of Ardrossan Academicals, Biggar, Greenock, Hamilton, West of Scotland and Wigtownshire.
Coach Gordon Lindsay said:“myself, the team and our club are delighted with this news and we look forward to growing from strength to strength.”
