Lanark squad shine in Stirling

Nineteen Lanark swimmers took several medals from the two-day Alloa ASC meet held in Stirling.

The Lanark ASC squad did very well, finishing second-best club behind Perth City.

In the 10-years-and-under age group, Evi Mackie, Samantha Pratt, Casey Thomson and Justin Bone all won top three awards.

Top-three finishes were also recorded by Millie Mcarthur, Ellarose Stewart and Cameron Bruce in the 11/12 age group.

There was further success for Anya Mclaughlin, Caitlyn Hamilton, Euan Mcleod and Connor Fallon in the 13/14 age group.

In the 15-years-and-over group, there were podium finishes for Lucy Jones, Abbigail Mcarthur, Heather Stevenson, Erin Snow and Michael Maxfield.

Joanna Dale, Emma Mccafferty and Abigail Smith all posted personal best times.

Coach Karen Kelly said:“it was a great effort for the Lanark swimmers to finish second in the team scores behind Perth City.

“There were some terrific personal best swims from all the age groups.”

That success came hot on the heels of some success at the West District Senior Age Group Championsh­ips at Tollcross.

Thirteen Lanark swimmers took part, with Erin Snow setting a new personal best to win bronze in the 100m breaststro­ke, and finishing fifth in the 200m individual medley in the 16-years-and-over group.

Other Lanark finalists were Lucy Jones, Abbigail Mcarthur, Mia Rae and Heather Stevenson.

Caitlin Doherty, Caitlyn Hamilton, Niamh Jeffrey, Connor Fallon, Michael Maxfield and Alistair Dunsmore all posted personal best times.

Coach Kelly said:“erin was in excellent form with a quality breaststro­ke swim.

“It was heartening to see other Lanark swimmers make finals too.”
