- Hamilton Old Parish Church

Our service this Sunday, November 18 is at 10.45am with worship being led by Rev Ross Blackman. Creche and Sunday live for our younger members during the service. Enjoy fellowship over a tea or coffee in the halls following the service.

On Monday we have our badminton group and Saffronhal­l Singers at 7.30pm. Our decoupage group meet at 1pm on Tuesday and in the evening the Brownies meet at 6.15pm, the banner group at 7.30pm and the Old Kirk Dancers at 7.45pm. All section of our Boys’ Brigade meet from 5.30pm on Wednesday, the choir at 7pm.

\ Blantyre Livingston­e Memorial Parish Church

The Reverend Murdo Macdonald will lead us in worship on Sunday, November 18, at 11.30am. Katie Hull thanked the congregati­on for their donations to help her with her volunteeri­ng trip to Ghana next year. The hi-lows singing group will meet on Wednesday, November 21 at 7pm in the church. If you enjoy singing, please come along and join us. The sporting memories group will meet on Wednesday, November 21 at 7.30pm in the small hall within Livingston­e Memorial Church. Our guests on this night are rugby player, Craig Kircauldy and Jim Purvis from Sporting Memories Foundation. We meet every two weeks to discuss all sports related topics. Entry: Adults £3 and children £1.50. This includes tea/coffee and home baking. Hot filled rolls will be on sale. Bright Lights Theatre Group’s tickets for the Peter Pan pantomime in the Cambuslang Institute which runs from Wednesday, November 28, through to Saturday, December 1, are now available. Children £8; concession­s £10; adults £12 and family ticket (two adults plus two children) £30. Brew & Blether, we continue meeting every Thursday between 10.30am and noon in the church hall.

\ St John The Baptist Church, Uddingston

Our P7 and S1 pupils go on their advent retreat this weekend to Craig Lodge in Dalmally. We wish them a safe journey and a great weekend. Cemetery Sundays to pray for our deceased family and friends are at 2pm in Bothwell Haugh Cemetery on Sunday, November 18, and 3pm in Bothwell Park Cemetery on Sunday, November 25.

Masses and services from our parish are available on the web. Go to www. saintjohnb­aptist.org and click on ‘live cam’. On Monday the Padre Pio Prayer Group meet after 9.30am mass and a silent prayer vigil for life is held from 8pm to 9pm. The SVDP meet at 5.30pm on Tuesdays and the RCIA meet at 7.30pm. On Wednesdays a divine mercy hour begins at 3pm in the oratory and a prayer and praise group from 8pm-9pm. The prayer garden is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am-4pm. Church cleaning is on Friday mornings after mass if anyone would like to help. Sunday masses: vigil 4.30pm, 10am, noon, 6pm. Weekday mass: 9.30am daily. Rosary : 9.10am daily. Confession­s: Saturday 9-9.25am and after vigil mass.

\ Cadzow Parish Church

Cadzow Parish Church Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday, November 24, from 1.30pm. There will be a tearoom with delicious home-baking, Santa’s Grotto and many other stalls throughout the hall complex where you can browse and buy. Come along and enjoy the Christmas spirit. All will be welcome. Tea tickets (including entry) are priced at £3 for adults and £1.50 for children under 12. Entry only is 60p for adults and free for children under 12. Please note that entry to the halls is in Haddow Street.

\ St John’s Church Hamilton

Morning worship at St John’s Church Hamilton will be led by Rev Joanne Hood at 10.45am on Sunday, November 18. The evening service will be held at 6.30pm. A warm welcome awaits all. Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be collected after the morning service. The Duke Street multi storey car park will be closed all day on November 18. The mid week service will be held on Thursday, November 15, at 12.15pm in the church sanctuary. Please come along. The guild coffee morning will be held on Saturday, December 1, 10am to noon. Tickets are available price £3 per adult, 50p child. Heart & Soul Swing Band Concert will be held on Saturday, December 1, at 7.30pm, World Aids Day. The swing band will be joined by Woodside Primary School big singing group. Entrance is free, donations welcomed towards the Church of Scotland HIV programme. St John’s Centre, Book Corner and Chapel open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

\ Hamilton South Parish Church

Our service on Sunday, November 18, at 11.15am. The Reverned Douglas Wallace and reader Lynette Jardine will be present.this is a special service as four young people will be accepting Jesus Christ as their saviour and becoming members of the South Church. The Sunday School will meet during the service and tea, coffee etc, will be available after the service. The Bible study group will meet at 9.30am.on Monday, the craft sharing group will meet at 10am and the prayer group at 6.30pm.the adult badminton group meets on Tuesday at 8pm. The Wednesday fellowship meets at 9.30am, the coffee shop at 10am and the community nearly new shop from 11.30am- 2pm. In the evening the Snowdrops meet at 5.30pm, the Brownies at 6.30 pm and the Guides at 7.30pm. The Bible study group meet on Thursday at 7.30pm. Last Sunday we shared our morning and evening services with members of Quarter, our linked church, to commemorat­e the 100 year centenary of the end of the First World War.the services were well attended and the uniformed organisati­ons showed grace and dignity in paying their respects. A retiring offering in aid of Poppy Scotland reaped £335 and after the evening service a ‘war-time’meal was served to those who retired to the hall after the service.

\ Hamilton Baptist Church

The morning service on Sunday (November 18) at 10.45 am will be led by the Youth Pastor, Jonathan Davie. After the morning service, two members of the congregati­on will be available to pray with anyone feeling the need of prayer. Light refreshmen­ts will be served in the halls after the morning service and everyone is encouraged to join in this time of informal fellowship. The evening service at 6.30 pm will be the senior pastor, David Wilson. The senior citizens’ meetings will be held at 2pm on Monday (November 19) when the speaker will be Ronnie Ingles. The annual car wash and coffee shop will be held on Saturday, November 24. The funds raised will help buy a defibrilla­tor. The Tumbletots Nativity Play is on Sunday, December 3.

\Hillhouse Church

Happy to tell you that Messy Church is back at Hillhouse Parish Church on Saturday, November 17, from 12.30 till 2pm. All are very welcome to come along, children must be accompanie­d by an adult, and fun and games, crafts and lunch are available to everyone. Hope to see you there. The service on Sunday, November 18, will start as always at 10.45am and will be led by Rev Christophe­r Rankine, our Sunday school takes place at the same time with stories and fun in the hall. On Tuesday, November 20 the guild of friendship will meet at 2pm and the topic will be caring for the elderly, all welcome. Our Girls’ Brigade meet on Tuesday evenings from 6 pm if any girls from primary one and up would like to join them just come along and speak to captain Susan Mclean. The Boys’ Brigade meet on Fridays from 6pm and would be happy to see boys from primary one join in the fun. Speak to captain Jim Farmer.

\ Blantyre Congregati­onal Church

On Friday at 6.30pm the junior section of 2nd Blantyre Boys Brigade will meet in our church hall followed by the company section at 7.45pm. Our Sunday morning worship begins at 11am and will be led by our minister Rev Malcolm Anderson. Our Sunday School The Ark for Primary aged school children will meet in our church hall to begin their rehearsals for December’s nativity. After our service we have a church meeting. On Monday evening our ladies’ group and the newcomers club meet at 7.30pm with an invited guest speaker. On Tuesday our singing group The Voice meets at 7pm and on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm the Anchors Boys meet in our church hall.

\ Hamilton West Parish Church

Our next service will be on Sunday, November 18, at 11.30am and it will be led by Jim Paxton Church of Scotland Reader, during the service the shoeboxes will be dedicated, come a bit early and enjoy a tea or coffee and a chat before the service starts. A big thank you to all who attended and to those who took part our remembranc­e service last Sunday, it was a very moving service for all who attended.

\ Blantyre Old Church

Worship on Sunday will be led by Rev Sarah Ross at 11am. Sunday club meet as usual. Refreshmen­ts will be served in the hall following the service. Tonight (Thursday, November 15) the guild meet at 7.15pm when speaker Stuart Lawrie will tell about ‘Action for Children’. Next week Elspeth Hamilton will be at the guild with a selection of perfume and gifts. On Monday at 1.45pm the leisure group meet when Marion Dickie will speak about N.T.S. Believe study group continues on Monday at 7.30pm in the session room looking at spiritual practices. Dates for your diary – Saturday, November 24 – Christmas cafe from 2pm. Tickets are available £2 for adults including refreshmen­t and £1 for children includes a gift from Santa. Sunday, November 25– St Andrew’s Hospice service at 11am. Also on Sunday, November 25 our annual remembranc­e service for loved ones at 7pm.

\ Hamilton United Reformed Church

On Sunday, November 18, our service will begin at 11.30am, led in worship by Rev Gordon W. Smith, Retired minister of United Reformed Church.

\Dalserf Church

Sunday Worship on November 18, will take place in Dalserf Church at 11.30am conducted by Reverend John Stevenson. The choir will meet at 1.30pm. Bible study will meet on Monday, November 19, in Hamilton Hall, Dalserf at 11am. Girls’ Brigade also meet on Monday, November 19, in Rorison Church Ashgill. The guild Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday, November 24, in the Hamilton Hall from 11am–3pm. Anyone wishing to attend the guild Christmas dinner in Ashgill Bowling Club on Wednesday, December 5, should give their name to Kay Blair. The cost will be £14.

\ Gilmour and Whitehill Church

The united Service of Remembranc­e at Hamilton West was very well attended and it was good to see serving soldiers bringing some residents from Douglas View Care Home to be a part of this very special morning. The bell at Gilmour and Whitehill rung out 100 peals at 7.05pm to mark the end of the day. On Sunday, November 18, at 10am is our next service which will be conducted by Jim Paxton locum of our linked charge. Our Sunday School children will attend Hamilton West as it is Shoebox Sunday when hundreds of shoeboxes, which have been filled with all sorts of items, will be dedicated before starting the journey to underprivi­leged children in the third world. 17th Hamilton Rainbows, Brownies and Guides will hold a coffee morning on Saturday, December 1, in our church hall. Our coffee lounge is open every weekday between 10amnoon and provides a meeting place for our members and our community.
