This boy’s in the Hood

Blockbuster part for Scot

- Leona Greenan

A teenage boy from Hamilton is living the dream after securing another spot on the big screen acting alongside Hollywood stars.

Actor Scot Greenan has landed himself a role in the latest version of Robin Hood.

The big-budget movie, which was released last Wednesday, sees the teen in the role of Clayton alongside including Taron Egerton, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx and Fifty Shades of Grey’s Jamie Dornan.

From director Otto Bathurst, the film re-envisions the classic tale about a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander, who mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in an action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.

Scot, who plays one of the outlaw’s gang in the flick, said:“working on this film was a dream come true. The cast were absolutely outstanding to work with and the crew were fantastic.

“I am so grateful for this experience, which I have my agent Lisa Richards to thank for. It really is a dream come true.”

Scot is also set to appear in the upcoming Mary Queen of Scots as Hector Mclean alongside Saoirse Ronan in the titular role, Margot Robbie as Queen Elizabeth I and fellow Scottish actors David Tennant and Martin Compston as John Knox and the Earl of Bothwell.

The film also stars Neighbours soap star legend Guy Pearce and is due for release in January.

Last year, the former St John Ogilvie High School pupil bagged a plum role as the son of psychopath Begbie, played by Robert Carlyle, in T2 Trainspotting.

A member of Hamilton’s Screen Acting Academy, the youngster has also appeared alongside Michael Fassbender as ‘the soldier boy’ in Macbeth.

Whilst working with such high-profile stars used to be daunting for young actor Scot, he now says he simply takes it in his stride and likes to get on with the job.

He added: “At the beginning, working with people like Michael Fassbender and Robert Carlyle was definitely a little daunting and quite scary. However, now it doesn’t bother me as I am in my element and feel that acting is what I’m supposed to be doing.

“It’s all about continuing to learn the trade and being the best I can be, and working with such great actors is the best learning experience I can ask for.”
