Jay and Jack Joseph chew the fat and talk footie ahead of the big game

- Leona Greenan

Celtic super fan Jay Beatty and Hamilton Accies mascot Jack Joseph Mclaughlin put their rivalry to one side and enjoyed a little fun prior to the big game last Saturday.

The pair got together before Accies took on Celtic at the Hope CBD Stadium and grabbed the microphone in the media room for an impromptu interview that saw 14-year-old Jay ask Jack Joseph what he thought the score would be.

Jack Joseph was wrong however, when he predicted that th ematch would finish 1-1 – with Celtic actually winning 3-0.

A club spokesperson said:“jay Beatty and Accies mascot Jack Joseph Mclaughlin had fun with the microphone before Saturday’s match. The pair got on very well and had a great day.

“It goes to show Accies are most definitely more than just a football club.”

Back in 2014 Jay, from Armagh, Northern Ireland, became a hit when former Celtic striker Georgios Samaras picked him out the crowd to join in the title celebrations.

That was broadcast on Sky Sports and led to two million Youtube hits.

“Wee Jay”, who has Down’s Syndrome, then became known as Celtic’s unofficial mascot and has been invited all over the country following his heroes – including being given the chance to take a half-time penalty when Hamilton played Celtic on January 19, 2015.
