A Larkhall primary school have been going for gold recently when it comes to taking part in sports.
Craigbank Primary School were delighted to receive a Sportscotland gold award for their rise and improvement in extra-curricular sports.
The national award is a Lottery funded initiative designed to encourage schools to continuously improve physical education and school sport opportunities.

A focused effort at Craigbank over the last few years, has seen pupil participation in extra-curricular sports rise to over 92 per cent, a significant increase and achievement for the school. This has been achieved through provision of sporting experiences, which have been planned and implemented, with the aim of providing opportunity for all.
The school’s health committee have worked tirelessly to encourage participation and gather the vital evidence required.
Furthermore, the contributions from the Active Schools Coordinator, Kate Anderson along with volunteers from the wider community, has meant that a wide range of sporting clubs and events have been provided, to maximise pupil choice and participation.
Headteacher Gillian Orr said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Craigbank Primary School.
“Sport plays a huge part in the pupils lives, it encourages healthy activities and teamwork. We are all delighted to be a Sportscotland Gold Award winner.”
