Next two games are must-win

-

Midfielder Scott Martin says Hamilton’s next two games away to St Mirren and Dundee are“six-pointers”but insists they can take a lot from their 3-0 defeat at home to Celtic.

The champions barely got out of second gear at the Hope Stadium on Saturday and Martin was the unfortunate victim of an own-goal for the Parkhead side’s second, but he says if Hamilton work as hard as that they will do OK, and hopes they will be looking up the table before long.

He said:“the next two games are really important, some may say‘six pointers’. I think we have to take a lot from the game on Saturday – the way we ran, the way we stuck to our task while playing against some of the best players in the league, so I think we have to take positives, and hopefully we can replicate that performance in the next two weeks.

“You don’t want to put too much pressure on yourself, but I think if we win the next two games it’s looking up the table rather than looking down, and I think that’s what the club is pushing towards.

“That’s what we’re aiming to do – to be looking upwards rather than downwards.”

Scott added:“we can take the performance from the game. I know we didn’t get the three points, or even a draw, but I think we stuck to our task really well, until the second goal went in I thought we were still in the game.”
