Law take cross country prizes

Law and District Amateur Athletics Club took a haul of medals from the Lanarkshir­e Cross Country Championsh­ips at Drumpellie­r Park at the end of November.

Over 60 club athletes took part, some for the first time, and won medals in most age groups.

Their under-11 girls won team bronze, with Alayna Mccann finishing in fifth place, Joscelyn Kennedy 10th and Rachel Stevenson 22nd.

Lanark’s Jessie Gilchrist stormed home in first place in the u13 girls’event, 18 seconds ahead of the second-placed runner.

Jessie then won team gold, while Fiona Currie was fifth and Jessica Inglis ninth.

The club’s under-13 boys also won team bronze, with Scott Mcadam finishing in seventh, Logan Whitton 10th and Finn Donnelly 25th.

The Gilchrist family continued to enjoy success, with Jessie’s brother Donald winning the individual silver medal in the U15 boys’race, and also achieved team gold, with fellow athletes Oscar Logan fifth and Christophe­r Barrett sixth.

Jessica Robson also put in an impressive performanc­e, winning the championsh­ip title and gold in the under-17 women’s race.

To complete a family hat-trick, Donald and Jessie’s mum Alison won the individual silver medal in the master women’s race.

The last race of the day saw Darran Muir win gold in the men’s Masters race.

Overall, Law and District AAC female teams finished in fourth place out of 13 Lanarkshir­e clubs, and the men finished third.
