Robbo blasts defence

-

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson was disappointed to concede two set-piece goals in a 2-0 defeat at Livingston, having worked all week on defending them.

The Steelmen were brought back down to earth with a bump following their win over Aberdeen, as goals from Steven Lawless and Craig Halkett saw Livi keep the three points.

Robinson said:“what’s disappointing is that we worked on it all week.

“They throw long balls into the box, they do it very well. We told certain people to mark a certain way, they didn’t and runners go off from a midfielder, again.

“We got beat by that and a corner into the box that we made them very aware of. We simply got what we deserved. We didn’t do the simple things well, Livi did that better than us.

“We didn’t pick up second balls, we didn’t land on the ball, and when we did we passed it out of play.”

Curtis Main forced a good save from Liam Kelly but was then flagged offside.

However, livi were only denied the opener in 13 minutes by a stunning save from Mark Gillespie to smother a Lawless shot.

Nine minutes later a long throw-in wasn’t cleared and Lawless fired it into the bottom left corner.

Livi sealed the points in 83 minutes when a corner from the left was headed in by Halkett.
