Tragic death of wonderful schoolgirl Darian

Tributes have been paid to a Hamilton teenager who tragically died this week.

Darian Rouse passed away suddenly on Monday (December 10).

The 16-year-old was a pupil at Calderside Academy in Blantyre, where she was “held in the highest regard”.

Emergency services were called to a home on Wellcroft Road on Sunday night, with police confirming that a 16-year-old girl was taken to hospital after becoming unwell.

Darian sadly died on Monday evening.

Skayne Dodds, head teacher at Calderside Academy, described Darian as “a diligent, hardworkin­g, respectful pupil,” whose passing will have “a profound effect” on all at the school.

He said: “The whole Calderside school community is saddened by the tragic passing of Darian Rouse.

“Darian was a lovely, kind, thoughtful and sensitive person who was held in the highest regard by her teachers and fellow pupils.

“A diligent, hard-working, respectful pupil, Darian engaged fully with the corporate life of the school and availed herself of many opportunit­ies to contribute in an extremely positive manner to the school ethos.

“Darian’s passing has had a profound effect on the school

community and has created a great sense of loss.

“She will always have a place in the heart of the staff and pupils who knew her and she will be sorely missed.

“The thoughts of the school are with her family at this terrible time.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoma­n said: “At around 10.25pm on Sunday, December 9, police were called to a report of a 16-year-old girl found unwell at a property on Wellcroft Road in Hamilton.

“Emergency services attended and she was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital, where she passed away on Monday evening.

“Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstan­ces surroundin­g the death. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Darian’s parents Mark and Donna were too upset to speak as we went to press.

Tributes to their daughter and messages of condolence poured in on Facebook.

One said: “Thoughts and prayers to all the family. So sorry for your loss.”

Another posted: “So sorry to hear about Darian, my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time,”

Another said: “Donna I’m so sorry to hear about Darian. I can’t even begin to comprehend how you all are feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with you.”

Another heartbreak­ing post read: “I can’t believe you have lost one of your babies. No parent should have to go through this.

“I cant begin the comprehend what you must be going through.

“My love and thoughts are with you and your family.”
