Anti-social behaviour crackdown

-

Anti-social behaviour is something that police receive reports on regularly.

Some anti-social behaviour is termed as criminal, which police would obviously be involved in investigating, and some are not – and these instances are often investigated by the local authority.

There are of course instances where this type of behaviour overlaps between criminal and non-criminal, which is why a strong relationship between the local authority and local police is essential.

The detrimental impact that antisocial behaviour can have on those affected cannot be understated.

It can have a negative impact on the quality of life of a person, or a group of people, and because they often see it happening outside their home, it causes them never to feel relaxed or at ease, and can go on to impact on their mental and physical health.

With this in mind, the partnership between the police and the local authority must act, and this involves regular discussions about establishing the root causes of the issues and methods of trying to minimise or eradicate them.

Residents of Hareleeshill, Larkhall, have been experiencing some regular anti-social behaviour in recent weeks, leading to a number of crime reports for damage to windows and doors and of mud being thrown at the houses. These incidents have been happening mainly in Balfour Wynd, Donaldson Road, Keir Hardie Road and Woodlands Terrace. Additionally, youths in the area have been reported as shouting and swearing and generally causing disorder. A crime report has also been raised for one of these youths, making rude gestures towards South Lanarkshire Council staff who were in the area.

Local officers are hoping to identify the person responsible and charge them with a criminal offence. They will continue to patrol this area as much as possible.

Still with Larkhall, it was disappointing to hear that the Larkhall Go Kart track was targeted by thieves between 3.45pm on Sunday, February 3, and 7am on Monday, February 4. Items of plant were stolen as well as damage caused to the external gates. No persons were reported as being seen in the area, but enquiries are ongoing.

Finally in Uddingston, officers are looking for information relating to a break-in which occurred to a business premises on Hornal Road in Bothwellpark Industrial Estate. Three persons wearing balaclavas entered the premises in the evening of Saturday, February 2, and stole a large sum of money. Two of the persons are seen to be wearing dark jackets, whilst the third is seen wearing a hi-vis vest.

If you have any information on these crimes call 101.
