A team of Hamilton fundraisers are stepping up for a charity event tomorrow night (Friday).
The Hamilton Fundraising Group for Macmillan Cancer Support often hold coffee events, but this time they are staging a fashion show.
Since the volunteers came together in 1988, they have raised over £550,000.
On the evening there will be live entertainment and all proceeds will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
M&CO will be on hand to be provide the clothes, which will also be available to purchase on the evening.
Craig Tobin, Macmillan project manager, said:“macmillan Cancer Support has invested over £800,000 in Lanarkshire to develop and deliver locallyaccessible support services in libraries for people affected by cancer.
“Without committed fundraising groups like this in Hamilton, we wouldn’t be able to offer this kind of support to people diagnosed with cancer, their families, friends and carers in communities across Lanarkshire, so we’re delighted to be supporting this event.
“It’s also a celebration of over 30 years of fundraising for our Hamilton group – what an achievement!”
Derek Watson, fundraising manager, added:“it looks set to be an excellent evening at the Miners’ Welfare on Friday.
“It’s great to see the services team and the fundraising group working together, not only to raise awareness of the services available, but also to raise funds to help those affected by cancer find their best way through.
“As Craig mentioned, the Hamilton group have been fundraising for over 30 years in the local area.
“They established the group in 1988 and through the dedication of the wonderful volunteers have raised over half a million pounds to date. They are an inspiration!”
The event kicks off this Friday (February 8) in Low Waters Miners Club at 7pm, tickets cost £8.
