Charity announce ladies’ lunch event

- LEONA GREENAN

Blantyre charity The Haven have announced that their annual Ladies’ Lunch will take place on Sunday, March 3.

The event will be held at The Radstone Hotel, Larkhall, and having raised £11,000 last year, the charity hope to well and truly smash that target.

Hosted by TV presenter David Farrell, with special guests the Men of Motown, it promises to be a day filled with fun, laughter, dancing, good food, fizz and great company.

There will also be a range of stalls selling handbags, jewellery and lots more as well as the chance to win a number of fantastic prizes.

June Sutherland, The Haven service manager, said: “The Ladies’ Lunch is not only a fantastic day out with friends and family but by attending you are helping to change the lives of those affected by life-limiting illnesses.

“This year is our Haven Children’s Appeal and the funds raised will contribute towards delivery of this invaluable service.

“We have an established Children’s Service in our Blantyre centre which supports children through bereavement, grief and loss and are in the process of setting up a similar service in our Forth centre as well as ensuring support to our Wishaw centre.

“We still have a long way to go before our children’s service is fully established across all three of our Haven centres, however the money we are able to raise at events such as the Ladies’ Lunch will well and truly help us on our way to achieving this.”

A client of The Haven, whose child receives support from the Children’s Service, said: “The time our son has spent at The Haven is helping him grow into a very strong, well-rounded young man, and the support of the children’s service at The Haven is an absolute lifeline for our family.”

The Haven is a registered charity which provides support to people affected by a range of life-limiting illnesses and to their family members and carers, and supports people across the whole of North and South Lanarkshire through centres in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth.

They offer a programme of support designed to help individuals cope with the physical, emotional and practical aspects of their illness and to enable them to face the future positively and with hope.

Events such as the Ladies’ Lunch are vital to the sustainability of these services.

Tickets are priced at £29.50 per person and this includes a welcome glass of fizz, two course lunch and tea or coffee to follow.
