Residents urged to have their say
Strutherhill residents in Larkhall are being invited to have their say over the future of the community.
Larkhall councillor Jackie Burns (pictured) last week met with residents from the Strutherhill and Birkenshaw area to discuss the neighbourhood priorities which will go towards the “Our Place our Plan” project.
The plan sets out the ambitions for the community to be actioned over the next 10 years and is focussed on better leisure, recreation and social opportunities; physical environment improvements; greater community safety; new housing for rent in the area and better employment and healthy opportunities.
Councillor Burns said:“the Community Links team, especially Liz Jamieson, is providing support and engagement with local community residents and groups and is promoting positive aspects of living and working in Strutherhill and Birkenshaw.
“The attraction of building new houses for sale and rent in the area reflects in the attraction of the community and the importance of the strong community with residents keen to see improvement and investment.”
South Lanarkshire Partnership is beginning a programme of activities working closely with individuals and communities to develop neighbourhood plans.
The launch of the “Our Place Our Plan” is on Saturday, February 23, at noon in Chalmers Church and the community are encouraged to turn out to support the project.
