A friend of the stars

-

Airdrie chat show host Ross Owen is looking forward to welcoming some popular actors to the town in the coming weeks.

The radio presenter is celebrating the start of the final season of Still Game next Friday by holding an evening with Paul Riley, who plays Winston in the muchloved show.

Following that, Ross is hosting an evening with Scot Squad stars Darren Connell, who plays Bobby, and Jordan Young – PC Jack Mclaren – in April.

Both events are taking place at Airdrie’s Penny Cars stadium, which was the venue for the Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser’s all-star charity football game in June. Ross played an integral part in the event and is keen to keep the stars coming to Airdrie.

He said:“since the charity game last summer the stars have been happy to come to Airdrie.

“I’m planning much more and want to keep enticing the public’s favourite TV stars along for evenings.

“I won’t give away the names for people interested in coming along to these events, but I’m excited.

“They’re basically live versions of my show and I’ll interview the guest before a Q&A session with the audience.

“They can then pose for photos and it’s really interesting to see people of lots of different ages at the evenings.”

The event with Paul Riley next week sold out very quickly and Ross is hoping for a similar reaction to the show with the Scot Squad duo on April 5.

He continued:“darren and Jordan both play hilarious characters and anyone who comes along will be in for a great night.

“Jordan has been in lots of popular productions and has been great in taking part in things in Airdrie.

“Darren is an award-winning comedian and his stand-up events sell out quickly.

“They’ve both got really interesting stories about their lives and careers.

“I’m positive it will be an evening worth coming along to.”

Tickets are £10 and can be bought at www.wegottickets.com
