Nurse lost weight and gained a husband

A Motherwell mental health nurse has gone from a size 16 to a 6 after finding that her happy place is in the gym.

Adele Farrell has been working so hard getting into shape that she has even signed up for a body building competition this year.

The 24-year-old started working out in 2016 after feeling down about buying bigger clothes every time she went shopping.

After doing classes for about six months her body wasn’t changing much, although she had lost some weight.

So she contacted personal trainer Robbie Macgillivray (based at Motherwell’s Pure Gym) to help her achieve her dream body.

Adele said: “Robbie’s knowledge in training, nutrition and motivation has helped me in every way possible.

“After only five months of training and correcting my nutrition – and actually going from eating three meals a day to six meals a day – I lost ten per cent body fat and gained muscle tissue.

“I had managed to shift 10 per cent body fat and stayed roughly the same weight, which I couldn’t believe.”

Adele has worked so hard that she will be taking part in a bikini show in Stafford.

She said: “I’m now loving training, it’s my happy place. After only 14 months training with Robbie he’s motivated me to do a bikini show.

“A year ago it would been a no-go, but he’s filled me with self-belief and confidence and has made me change my whole outlook on life.

“I went from going out every weekend to now investing in my health and fitness, and feeling the best I’ve ever felt.”

Adele said she and Robbie have been working hard together to prepare for her first show, despite being in a car crash last year which set her back slightly. She said: “Now we’re well on track. We are weeks from doing my first show and the journey has been crazy, but very exciting – especially now as I’m starting to see muscles I’ve never seen before.

“I can’t thank Robbie enough for all his work and the time he’s put in helping me through the good times, and the dark times, when training is intense. He’s been my rock and we’re going for gold come March 31.”

And it wasn’t just muscles Adele found in the gym.

After spending hours training, Adele and Robbie grew closer and became a couple – and are now due to marry in April!

Robbie said: “I’m amazed by how much she has transformed. She’s a very hard working independent person who gives 110 per cent in everything she does.

“When Adele first started with me she didn’t know very much, it was just the basics so I really had to correct her form in lifting properly and also show her how to train each muscle group separately.

“We’ve worked hard over the last year with many obstacles to overcome, but it’s all paying off now.

“She’s got great attitude, discipline and determination.

“She works long hours as a nurse and fully commits to her training and diet, preps all her food. I’m amazed by her, I really am.

“We’re getting married in Cyprus in April. I couldn’t be marrying anyone more perfect in every way possible.”
