Bright spark Danielle lands scholarship
Ahamilton student has been selected for a prestigious scholarship in Spain’s capital city, Madrid.
Danielle Mcginnes, who is studying for her Masters at University of Strathclyde, flew to the headquarters of Scottishpower’s parent company Iberdrola last week.
The award ceremony was hosted by Queen Letizia of Spain alongside fellow scholarship recipients from the UK, Spain, Brazil, Mexico and the USA.THE scholarship supports the future generation of energy experts and Danielle received her award at an international royal ceremony.
The Scottishpower Scholarship programme, which is part of a wider Iberdrola group initiative, is supporting 16 students in postgraduate studies across energy, digital and environmental subjects at the UK’S most esteemed universities including the University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow, University of Liverpool and University of East Anglia this year.
The initiative launched in 2010 in response to the growing demand across the energy, digital and environmental sectors for more experts in those fields.
It provides students with full enrolment costs for their chosen Masters as well as £1200 each month to support living costs. Sheila Duncan, Hrdirector at Scottishpower, said:“the royal award ceremony was the perfect recognition of Danielle’s achievement in securing a place against tough competition on the scholarship programme.
