Mum is holding charity appeal

-

A kind-hearted Stonehouse mum is organising a fundraiser to support mental health charities.

Jade Closs will host the event at Stonehouse Violet Social Club on Saturday, February 23, in aid of Combat Stress and local charity The Trust Jack Foundation.

The 21-year-old mum-ofone was spurred into action after reading reports of youths committing suicide, as well as her own battle with depression while pregnant with her son, Max (2).

She said: “My reason for holding this event is due to the high numbers of young people who have recently given up their battle with mental health, and believed suicide was the only way to get rid of their demons.

“When I was pregnant, I suffered with depression and had a really hard time. There were times when I felt like giving up, but I kept on going.

“I have been friends with two people who have committed suicide, so it’s close to home for me.”

The evening will feature a buffet and entertainment, with lots of raffle prizes to be won, including tattoo vouchers and Julie Lamont Photography vouchers.

Student nurse Jade continued: “All money raised will be split between Combat Stress and The Trust Jack Foundation.

“Both charities are amazing and it would be wonderful if we could get people coming on the night, or even donating raffle prizes.

“We are hoping that more local shops will donate vouchers for us to raffle as prizes.

“There are only 120 tickets in total available, and some of them are away already. Thank you to everyone who has purchased a ticket so far.”

The event will run from 7.30pm to midnight. Tickets cost £10. To purchase, or to donate raffle prizes, email Jade at jadecloss93@gmail. com
