Royal Albert boss Jamie Nesbitt and his assistant Chris Dolan are to step down at the end of this season.

The Tilework Park club are disappointed to lose both, and will search for replacements as soon as they can.

Jamie said:“i had a discussion with the club about my future and that I was stepping down at the end of the season.

“It has been a great three seasons where we have achieved history, but even Sir Alex Ferguson had a shelf life and it’s someone else’s turn to take the club forward.

“The club is in a great position and the new manager will have a great squad and support network from the likes of Peter Higgins and Donald Campbell.”

In a statement, secretary Peter Higgins said:“we are disappointed at his decision but fully understand and support it. They have decided to move on to another club to try something new.

“Both they and the players have done a terrific job at the club and taken us from a struggling League Two team to a decent League One team.

“The job they have done is all the more impressive given the financial constraints we have at the club – but they still have a job to do here at the Albert until the end of the season, to keep us in the league, which I’m sure they will do.

“We are in talks just now with another party to take over from them and hope to make the appointment as soon as possible.” Mcbookie.com West League Championship: Neilston Larkhall Thistle.
