‘Tis the season of love, well a day of it. Too much loveydovey and we all get a little seasick so one day is enough!

Roses, chocolates, a proposal of marriage maybe or poetry that makes your toes curl. Roses are red, violets are blue, God loves me and God loves you! Okay – a bit much perhaps.

But you know, something that has been very real to me recently is that God really does love us. And it’s not for a day, and to be honest, its kinda hard sometimes to get our head around. We are not easy to love, in fact, many of us are quite stubborn and selfish (including me).

We like to go our own way, and sometimes having another to love can actually be hard work. But you know, love is tenacious, kind, generous, it doesn’t keep a record of wrongs, it forgives, it preserves. Sound familiar? That passage from 1 Corinthians you hear at almost every wedding. I believe that money might make the world go round, but love is what holds the world together.

In the Bible it says we love because God loved us first. Love is God and love is of God, and because he is eternal, love is eternal.

God loves me on my best day and my worst day. He never gives up on me. Particularly, in this Valentine’s season, where we might mourn a missed love or a love that has died, or just wonder if we are even loved, let me remind you that God loves you so very much as you are. Now these three remain, faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love.
