Good times for Cheryl
The Airdrie singer of an up-and-coming indie band is looking forward to returning to King Tut’s.
Cheryl Risk, who fronts quartet Rubian, will take to the stage with her three male bandmates on July 25.
It’s not the first time the band have been invited to play at Glasgow’s famous venue.
Cheryl said:“we’ve got the King Tut’s Summer Nights and then we’re going to Bute for a festival only two days later. “It’s two really good slots for us. “We played King Tut’s at new year and it went so well they asked us back to play again, which is great.
“We can always rely on King Tut’s for a good crowd as people always want to go there because of its iconic status.
“We’ll have a lot of pals turn out which will be nice.”
After performing at the Summer Nights festival, the quartet will head north for Bute Fest.
It’s something a bit more unusual for the band, who will be camping overnight – except for their singer.
Cheryl continued:“there’s no way I’m camping!
“The lads are happy to but I’ve booked an Airbnb.
“I camped at T in the Park years ago and it was fun but when I’m performing the next day I want to get a good night’s sleep and look presentable!
“We’ve got our Rubivan to drive up so a road trip will be fun.
“I’m so excited for this one actually; I think we got it off the back of the King Tut’s stuff.
“We’re playing on the Saturday and Sunday and get a shot on the main stage which is brilliant.”
In terms of what is coming up for the band after the summer, Cheryl said: “We’ve got a video filmed for our next single which is called Cinnamon.
“That was fun to put together and we’ll share that on Youtube.
“As soon as everything is ready on that front we’ll put it online.
“We’re also heading to Ayrshire in September to play Live@troon.”
