TRNSMT is the launch pad for upcoming Eves

-

An emerging female duo are set to rub shoulders with some of the UKS most popuar acts at Scotland’s biggest music festival.

The Eves have been grasping opportunites in recent months and have now been rewarded with a slot at TRNSMT this Sunday.

The duo, comprising Coatbridge woman Marissa Keltie and Caroline Gilmour, only released their first single last autumn.

Since then they’ve gone from strength to strength, receiving extensive radio play topped off by a performance at the Hydro’s Country2country weekend in March.

A busy summer now beckons for The Eves, and it kicks off this weekend at Glasgow Green, on the Queen Tut’s stage.

Marissa told the Ticket: “TRNSMT added a new stage recently because there was a bit of a backlash about the lack of female-fronted bands on the bill.

“So, on the Queen Tut’s stage, every band has a female lead.

“We’re delighted to get the chance to play at such an amazing festival alongside so many brilliant acts.

“It’s great exposure for us and is probably the biggest thing we’ve done so far.

“Country2country was huge but TRNSMT is sold out on the Sunday, so it will be packed.”

Next up for The Eves after their appearance on the new stage is the King Tut’s Summer Nights festival in August. They will then support American country outfit The Shires at the Old Fruitmarket the following month.

Marissa continued: “The Shires had a number one album in the USA and the venue holds around 3000 people so that’s a really good support slot for us.

“King Tut’s on August 25 should be great too; there’s a few bands on before us so we’re hoping for a busy atmosphere.

“Apart from that, we’re still writing and recording consistently.

“Our next single should be out in September which we’re excited about.

“We were on BBC Scotland’s The Edit programme last week for our first proper TV appearance which was another great opportunity.

“We’re picking up more and more gigs and we have our management to thank for a lot of that as word of mouth only gets you so far.

“But we’re getting a lot of exposure and our name is growing all the time.”

Originally an acoustic duo, The Eves have recently brought on board other musicians for gigs. Marissa added: “The full band is fabulous. “The acoustic stuff is great but a band brings the songs to life the way they are meant to.

“Having a full band behind us allows us to play the way we want to and I hope it is something that can help us towards the next step.”
