T-riffic new look for Hamilton’s 10k race
Hamilton is gearing up to host its second 10k in September.
And the Advertiser can this week reveal the fantastic new brightly-coloured t-shirts which participants will receive.
Anyone who signs up will get the t-shirt when they turn up on the day with their race number.
We’ve teamed up with Hamilton Business Improvement District (BID) to host the event which will be held on Saturday, September 21.
The run will again begin in the town’s Castle Street and head towards Strathclyde Park.
Hamilten is backed by town centre businesses, South Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture and Police Scotland — and we want you to grab your trainers and sign up now!
We’re aiming to get more than 1000 pairs of feet pounding our streets, so let’s put Hamilton on the sporting map and show off our town in all of its glory.
There will also be plenty of fun for the whole family while the runners are in action.
We hope that hundreds of you will join with us and support this incredible event that will take in some of the town’s most famous landmarks.
Whether you walk, run or simply come to cheer on those taking part, we would be delighted to see you this September.
The large-scale event will begin in the town’s Castle Street and head past Low Parks Museum, entering the Palace Grounds, past the Davie Cooper Memorial, then through the tunnel towards Strathclyde Park.
Runners will then go north along the waterside before looping back on themselves at the far end of the loch and finishing back in Castle Street.
Gareth Walker, manager of Hamilton Business Improvement District, said: “I was pleased with last year’s race but I am sure we can make it bigger and better this year.
“Considering it was our first ever race, it was great to see over 730 entrants.
“We are making a few changes to the route this year, so that we use wider footpaths and accommodate bigger numbers.
