Where and when to avoid the dreaded traffic jams

Road closures affecting Hamilton and the surrounding areas:

Hamilton

WELLCROFT ROAD will be closed between Clarkwell Road and No 7 Wellcroft Road from 9.30am on Monday, August 5, to 4pm on Friday, August 9, for BT upgrade work. Diversion via Clarkwell Road, Belhaven Road, Thornhill Road, Fleming Way, Hillhouse Road and Clarkwell Road.

B7071 Cadzow Street is closed between Leechlee Road and Muir Street from 8am on Monday, July 22, to 5pm on Friday, July 26, for road resurfacing.

Alternative route will be via A724 Brandon Street, A724 Union Street and A72 Almada Street.

Blantyre

STONEFIELD ROAD will be closed between A724 Glasgow Road, and Valerio Court from 8am to 5pm on Saturday, August 3, for resurfacing work.

Diversion via A724 Glasgow Road, B758 Bardykes Road/ Hunthill Road, Stonefield Crescent and Stonefield Road.

CALDER STREET will be closed between Craig Street and Victoria Street from Monday, July 29, to Friday, August 2, for carriageway resurfacing works.

Diversion route via Craig Street, Hardie Street and Victoria Street.

Larkhall

HAMILTON STREET is closed between Summerlee Road and Wellgate Street from Tuesday, July 16, to Saturday, July 20, for resurfacing works.

Alternative route via Glenview, London Street and Wellgate Street

Strathaven

LETHAME ROAD will be closed between Threestanes Road and Kirkhill Road from Monday, July 22, until Sunday, August 11, to allow the installation of traffic calming measures and footway works associated with the new housing development.

Diversion via Lethame Road, Townhead Street, Colinhill Road, Kirkhill Road and vice versa.

WELL BRAE will be closed between Common Green and Kirk Street from Monday, July 15, to Monday, August 12, for the upgrading of Scottish Water apparatus.

Diversion via Common Green, Townhead Street, Kirk Street and vice versa.
