Kiltwalk countdown for Blantyre charity

-

Dozens of charity champs from Blantyre are putting their best foot forward for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk – but they need more people on their team.

The Haven provides support to people affected by a range of lifelimiting illness, and to their family members and carers.

Fundraisers from all over Lanarkshire will be walking in aid of the charity at the Kiltwalk, in Edinburgh, on Sunday, September 15.

And an appeal has gone out for more people to join with The Haven and raise money that will help individuals cope with the physical, emotional and practical aspects of their illness in a calm, non-clinical environment.

Lynsay Cooper, communications officer at The Haven, said: “The Kiltwalk is a hugely important event in The Haven’s fundraising calendar and we hope that with the help of our local community we can continue to make 2019 our most successful year to date.

“We have already had a team of 115 walkers take part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk raising well over £40,000 so far, with donations still coming in, and we hope to do the same at the Edinburgh Kiltwalk.

“With three walk options – The Wee Wander (5 miles), The Big Stroll (15.5 miles) and The Mighty Stride (24 miles) – you can make it a fun day out for all the family. Or, if you are looking to challenge yourself you can do so – there really is something for everyone.

“We really encourage anyone who is interested in taking part to get involved and support The Haven and help families in our local community.”

The Haven supports people across the whole of North and South Lanarkshire from its centres in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth.

By joining or by sponsoring Team Haven at the Kiltwalk, your money will go directly to supporting families in Lanarkshire.

If you choose to do the Kiltwalk in aid of The Haven they will pay half of your registration fee if you commit to raising £100, as well as offering free transport to and
