Youngsters celebrate success at Regen:fx Youth Trust Awards
Young people and volunteers were celebrated at the annual Regen:fx Youth Trust Awards night in Hamilton.
The Stories of Success event was staged at the banqueting hall in South Lanarkshire Council’s headquarters.
And it recognised the achievements of those involved in the Youth Diversion Programme, delivered by Larkhall-based charity Regen:fx and its partners.
The programme involves young people giving up their own time to support other youngsters in their communities.
Last year, young people gave up more than 7000 hours of their own time.
A spokesperson for Regen:fx said: “The award winners have all participated in various volunteering within our youth diversion programme and our partners.
“The volunteering work includes supporting community-led youth projects, participating in youth development and active citizenship projects and producing issue-based performances for the Street and Junior Street projects.”
Special awards were given to the following people for their contribution: Young Volunteer of the Year, Evan Mckill; Volunteer of the Year, Pauline Field; Above & Beyond, Carol Barrie; Personal Achievement Award, Jayne Hefferland; and the Community Spirit Award was presented to Stephanie Mallon on behalf of Crossbaskets Nursery, who have fundraised tirelessly for the Trust this year.
The entertainment was provided by a variety of young people including DJ Jack Mcginty, singing from Jayne Hefferland and Aimee Reeves, as well as a fantastic live performance from The Street project.
Members of the Regen:fx Youth board hosted the successful evening with both enthusiasm and professionalism.
