The13 children from Madrid stayed with host families within the town.

They enjoyed attending English classes at The Lighthouse during weekday mornings before setting off to see the local sights in the afternoon.

The children have already visited Avon Waters at Millheugh Brae, and have spent time at Larkhall Universal Connections getting to know the local teenagers.

They have also visited Summerlee Heritage Museum, enjoyed ten pin bowling, a day out in Edinburgh and a sunny day out at Troon Beach.

Next on their visits they will head to Chatelherault, Calderglen Country Park, New Lanark and ice skating at the Time Capsule. They will also spend an afternoon helping the Larkhall Community Growers in the town’s community garden.

The programme was arranged last year through Eve Malina of Larkhall and her friend Isabel Alcalde Nombela who runs Talktalk Idiomas, which is a language academy in Madrid.

Talk Talk Idiomas will also be hosting a free afternoon of food and fun at Larkhall Baptist Church on Saturday, July 27, from 1pm-3pm where people can meet the students, find out about their experience of staying in Larkhall and learn about becoming a host for next summer.
