Police appeal over town break-ins
It’s been another busy week once again for local officers within the South Lanarkshire area.
As usual we have dealt with a wide variety of incidents and disappointingly this week we saw a small rise in breakins over a two day period, primarily to business premises in the Hamilton area.
Many of these crimes occurred during the night and officers have been allocated the enquiries for progression. The criminals who carry out these types of crimes give no thought to the impact that such crimes can have on a business, such as the upset and disruption to the staff , the interference on the day to day running of the business and of course the obvious financial losses.
It can, of course, also have the knock on effect of leading to disappointment for customers.
Sometimes because these crimes happen at business premises there isn’t the same degree of sympathy or empathy towards the owners, as there would towards someone who, for example, had their home broken into, but the anger, upset and frustration is felt just the same by the owners and managers of businesses as it can be by home owners.
Those responsible will undoubtedly tell others, or try to sell items they have stolen and so the identity of those responsible is undoubtedly known within communities and I would ask that if you know anything regarding any crimes of this type that you get in touch with the police.
Overnight between July 31 and August 1 the premises of “The Hair Lounge” in Regent Way, Hamilton was broken into.
A forensic examination has been carried out and we hope to be able to track down the culprit(s) in due course.
Please contact PC Mcafee at Hamilton Police office if you have any information about this incident.
Over the same time period a tattoo parlour on Quarry Street, Hamilton, was also targeted and a quantity of cash taken from within. Enquiries are continuing into this crime also.
The same night, July 31, at around 10.35pm, a plumbers merchant situated within the Fulwood Industrial estate, Hamilton, was targeted by thieves, who were unsuccessful in trying to force open the shutters to the premises.
Evidence indicates that three persons in a small white van attended the premises before leaving empty handed.
There are descriptions of the three male suspects.
One was wearing a black jacket, black jogging trousers and black trainers with white soles, another was described as wearing a dark puffer jacket, dark bottoms and white trainers and the final one was wearing a black ‘Northface” jacket, grey jogging trousers and black trainers with white soles.
PC O’neill of Blantyre Office is making enquiries into the incident.
