Double celebratio­ns all round

Sainsbury’s Hamilton have celebrated the company’s 150th birthday by giving back to the local community.

The supermarke­t chain teamed up with Action for Children Silverton Short Breaks, Hamilton, to help them fundraise and build a new expansive sensory garden for their service users.

With Silverton Short breaks Hamilton also celebratin­g their 150th year milestone, Sainsbury’s were eager to help and get to work creating a fully functionin­g colourful sensory play area and garden for the children to enjoy over the summer holidays and beyond.

Sainsburys Hamilton PR Ambassador, Helen Allan, explained:“we were eager to contact Silverton to find out if this was something they would be interested in.

“We were delighted when they came back saying they completely loved the ideas we had for them.

“They jumped at the chance to team up and share our birthday celebratio­ns.”

Teamed with a group of willing volunteers from the Hamilton supermarke­t, they brought the garden to life through colour, texture and sound.

Helen added:“we had 25 amazing energetic volunteers from our store that gave 100 per cent every day they were in the garden.

“The help we were given from local businesses was truly amazing.“

Silverton Short breaks is a respite centre for after-school care and respite care for children and young adults five to 18 years of age who require additional support for autistic spectrum disorder, learning disability and physical disability.
