Alston: We’re not panicking

-

Blair Alston says everyone at Hamilton is disappointed with the 3-0 defeat at Ross County, but they’re not pressing the panic button just yet.

The midfielder pointed out that there are 37 games still to go, and while he’s making no excuses for a poor performance in Dingwall, Alston says Accies will get better.

He said:“it was a tough start to the season for us, we couldn’t have made it much worse for ourselves.

“We had a game-plan to come up and try to make it difficult for them, and we never got that at all.

“We gave away soft goals, we were cheap in possession, just everything that we didn’t want it to be, and I thought we looked soft all over the pitch.

“We didn’t compete how we wanted to, and ultimately we got exactly what we deserved.

“You get days like that, regardless of how you prepare. Sometimes you don’t perform how you want to, and it could be that they were up for it, on the first day of the season and with the flag rolled out and a big crowd for them, and we just never got going at all.

“At 2-0 you know that if you get a goal it makes it difficult for them, and that’s always in your head. At 2-0 you’re still in the game, but 3-0 makes it virtually impossible, and they killed the game off well.”

Alston added:“everybody was quiet in the dressing room, we weren’t happy, but at the same time we’ve got 37 games to go this season, so it’s not all doom and gloom, it’s far from that.

“It’s a blip and a disappointing result, but it’s nowhere near panic stations, it’s just‘let’s not play like that again’and make sure we sort it next week.”
