Piper honoured with Military Tattoo event

-

A Blantyre boy is set to perform as part of the Piper’s Trail at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo this month.

Cameron O’neill, a Queen’s Award Holder with 2nd Blantyre Boys’ Brigade Company, only took up the pipes six years ago when the opportunity arose through a friend of the company.

Just 12 months ago Cameron successfully auditioned for the Scottish National Youth Pipe Band and this year made the Piper’s Trail – a group of young pipers from all over the world who are brought together by the Tattoo organisers to perform during the popular monthlong event.

Captain Bill Andrew of 2nd Blantyre Boys’ Brigade said: “This is an amazing opportunity for Cameron and well deserved considering the time and effort he has given to this important part of his life.

“We are extremely excited for him and proud of what he has achieved and we know from his total dedication to whatever he does that he will have a great experience.”

Furthermore, his two brothers Scott and Ross also took up the opportunity and in a short space of time have developed their skills and now form their own mini-pipe band within the company and have for the last few years headed Hamilton and District Battalion annual parades.

The Boys’ Brigade’ aim to give lifeenhancing opportunities to boys aged from primary one to 18 years. They are located throughout the UK and if you think you would be interested in finding out more contact the website and search for a company located near you.
