Sounds like a great night

-

Soundroutes Singers start their new term this month and they are looking for new members.

The group is made up of community choirs launched by musician Shona Brown in 2009.

Starting with three groups in Motherwell, Hamilton and Carluke, the choir has now more than doubled – with seven groups and over 400 singers around Lanarkshire, Dunbartonshire and Glasgow.

In November 2015 Soundroutes Singers made national news after performing a flash mob on a Glasgow to Hamilton train in order to help a young man propose to his partner. A video of the event went viral on Facebook and received over one million views.

Soundroutes have recorded also a groundbreaking EP with Addiewell Prison Choir, raising over £3000 for Shelter Scotland, and presently partner with Lanarkshire Carers Centre, fundraising and providing singing workshops for unpaid carers.

The singers can learn harmony singing, improve their voice, make new friends, raise money for charity and enjoy opportunities to record and perform. The choir sings a blend of folk, pop, rock, reggae, world and gospel songs.

Sessions are led by Soundroutes Singers’ leaders – all of who are highly trained professional musicians – who teach by ear (reading music is not necessary) and will provide you with a fun and vibrant session of singing.

The cost is £5 each week and there are no auditions, joining or subscription fees; participants are only required to pay as they attend.

The new term starts on Tuesday, September 10, with the Hamilton session being held in Hamilton Baptist Church, between 7.30 and 9.30pm.

The Carluke sessions are held on Wednesdays from 6pm-7.30pm in the Lifestyles Centre and the Strathaven sessions are also held on Wednesdays at the Trinity Church between 6pm and 7.30pm.

There is no pre-booking and anyone can simply turn up. For more information please visit www.soundroutessingers.com
