The next meeting of the Philosophe­rs Cafe is on Wednesday, September 4, at 7pm in the Auld Cross Cafe, Stonehouse.

Were the‘good old days’really that good, or do we see them through rose-tinted glasses?

What would we change today that would change the course of history?

All things will be discussed, including the meaning of life, the environmen­t, your community, current affairs and the irrelevant.

All are welcome to go along and discuss the issues that affect you in a changing world. The 1st Stonehouse Boys’brigade company are taking recruits for the new session, which starts on Wednesday, September 4.

Registrati­on for the unit, which meets at St Ninian’s Church, is on Wednesday, August 28, at 6pm.

During the session, Anchor Boys (ages 5-8) are from 6pm-7pm; Juniors (8-11) are from 6.45pm-8.15pm and Company section (11-18) is from 7.45pm until 9.15pm. The Paterson Church Scottish Country Dance class will resume for the new session on Monday, September 9, from 9.45am until 11.45am.

The class meets in the church hall, Lawrie Street, at that time on Mondays until December.

Cost is £2 per class, and all former and any new members will be most welcome. Stonehouse Sporting Memories Group meets every Tuesday, from 9.30am until 11am at Linthouse Gardens Complex.

All are welcome to attend. Friends of Stonehouse Park are looking for people to be‘halloween scarers’in the woods this year.
