Caught with over 185,000 indecent pics and videos
A Hamilton man was caught with more than 185,000 indecent photographs and videos of children.
The vast haul was uncovered when police raided Andrew Hill’s home in Clarkwell Road just before Christmas.
Now the 38-year-old has been put on the Sex Offenders’ Register and could be sent to prison.
Hill appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.
He admitted downloading and possessing child porn at his home between July 2013 and December last year.
Paula Russell, prosecuting, said police got a search warrant for the house after receiving information from the National Online Child Abuse Prevention organisation that illegal activity was linked to computer equipment there.
Indecent pictures and videos were found on four devices – a laptop, an ipad and two hard drives.
Ms Russell said Hill answered ‘No comment’ to most questions during a police interview, but when asked if his wife was responsible for accessing the images he replied: “Definitely not.”
An officer then asked him: “If not her was it you?” Hill replied: “No comment.” Defence agent Eddie Robertson said Hill has been seeing his doctor “on a regular basis” and a medical report will be provided before he is sentenced.
Sheriff Thomas Millar told Hill, who has no previous convictions: “This was a very large number of images over a considerable period of time.
“I shall need background reports and a risk assessment before I sentence you.”
Hill had his bail continued and was ordered to return to court on October 15.
