Where and when to avoid the dreaded traffic jams

Road closures affecting Hamilton and the surrounding areas: Hamilton

LOW PATRICK STREET, the left-turn lane on approach to High Patrick Street will be closed from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Sunday, October 27, for Scottish Water repairs.

The alternative route is via Duke Street, Quarry Street, John Street and High Patrick Street. ROYELLEN AVENUE will be closed between Wellhall Road and Rederech Crescent until 6pm on Sunday, November 10, for Scottish Water works. Local access maintained where possible.

CADZOW STREET will be closed between Leechlee Road and Muir Street from Sunday, October 13, to Saturday, October 19, for resurfacing.

The alternative route is via Brandon Street, Union Street and Almada Street. Blantyre WHISTLEBERRY PARK will be closed between Unit 4 and Unit 6 from 8am to 4pm on Sunday, October 27, for sewage works. Lanark WELLGATE will close between its junctions with South Vennel and High Street from 7am on Sunday, October 13, for up to five days. Diversion via A743 High Street, Bannatyne Street, St Vincent Place, Ladyacre Road, A73 Hyndford Road, Wellgatehead and vice versa. CASTLEGATE closed from its junction with Hyndford Place and its junction with Friars Lane from 7am Monday, November 4, for up to five days for carriageway resurfacing works. Alternative route via A743 High Street, A73 Bloomgate, Friars Lane and vice versa. Strathaven

A723 STRATHAVEN to Hamilton Road closed between Chapelton Road and Bents and Station Highway from Saturday, October 12, to Sunday, October 20, for resurfacing. Diversion via A723 to Hamilton, A72/A724 to Burnbank, High Blantyre Road, Main Street, A725 East Kilbride Expressway/kingsway, A726 to Strathaven, A723 Commercial Road, A723 Hamilton Road and vice versa.

BROWNMUIR and Haptoncraig Highway will be closed between A726 Glasgow Road and Threestanes Highway from Monday, October 21, to Friday, October 25 for trial excavations on bridge deck. Alternative route in place.
