Hamilton’s Bravehearts Boxing Gym has proved to be in tip-top condition after being nominated for a prestigious national award.
The Low Waters Road gym is up for ‘Scotland Gym of the Year’ at the National Fitness Awards, the UK’S biggest awards.
National Fitness Awards are celebrating their 10th anniversary and the annual event recognises excellence and achievement in gyms throughout the country.
The awards are organised by Script Events, in conjunction with leading fitness industry magazine Workout, and support from headline sponsor Service Sport.
Up to seven finalists have been selected in each category and will now go through to the next stage of the judging process, where they will be out to impress by showcasing first hand the great work going on in their clubs.
Bravehearts Boxing Gym have been raising money for various charities with fitness-related events, including their annual Scotsathlon event, which sees them swimming across Loch Lomond, hiking up Ben Lomond and then cycling around it.
They also took part in a cycle run from Hamilton to Mallaig, earlier this year, to raise further funds for needy organisations.
This stage of the judging process will see a member of the awards team visiting Bravehearts Boxing Gym and looking around the facilities, talking to members and staff, and compiling a report, which will then be passed on to an expert judging panel.
Trophies will then be handed out at a glittering awards ceremony at the Athena in Leicester on Friday, November 29.
Bravehearts owner Steven Mcmillan said: “I’m delighted just to be nominated. I work away and just do my thing, so to be recognised is amazing.
“We do lots of extra outside of the gym as well.
“We cycled from the gym to Mallaig beach, 160 miles away for charity on July 27.
“We had 65 people up Ben Nevis at the weekend there also, and our things Scotsathlon event was also a great success.”
National Fitness Awards event director Judith Halkerston said: “The National Fitness Awards are celebrating their 10th birthday this year and with more entries than ever before, our finalists really have reason to celebrate too, as it’s a huge achievement to have made the shortlist.
“It is testament to behind each of them.” the teams
