Charity exhibits work for MSPS
A Hamilton-based charity exhibited their work at the Scottish Parliament last month.
The event, which showcased all of Project Linus’ efforts, was sponsored by Central Scotland MSP Margaret Mitchell.
It gave Project Linus the chance to chat to MSPS, show them some of the blankets volunteers have made, and let them know about the volunteers and donations from Project Linus in their constituency.
Project Linus UK provide new homemade patchwork quilts and knitted blankets to comfort sick and traumatised babies, children and teenagers across Scotland.
More than 7500 blankets and quilts were donated in Scotland last year and volunteers continue to make blankets of all sizes and colours, which are donated to hospitals, women’s refuges and bereavement services.
Commenting, Central Scotland and Scottish Conservative MSP Margaret Mitchell, said: “I was delighted to sponsor Project Linus UK at their exhibition in the Scottish Parliament, following my visit to one of their regular meetings.
“At the Lanarkshire meeting I met Elspeth Russell, coordinator for Lanarkshire and Glasgow East, and the Lanarkshire branch volunteers.
“Quilts and blankets from Project Linus provide comfort for babies, children and teenagers who are sick, disabled, disadvantaged or distressed.
“In South Lanarkshire, Kirkland’s Hospital, Social Work in Hamilton and Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire have all benefited from receiving these wonderful, lovingly crafted quilts.
“The volunteers’ talent, creativity and kindness are seen in every quilt that they make for vulnerable children.
“I congratulate all the coordinators and volunteers on their efforts and wish them every success for 2020.”
