BLANTYRE LIVINGSTON­E MEMORIAL PARISH

The Reverend Murdo Macdonald will lead us in worship on Sunday, January 26. Please join us for tea/coffee and fellowship following the service. All welcome to attend.

Wednesday worship will take place in St Andrew’s Parish Church for the month of January at 10am to 10.30am with praise, prayer and a thought for the day. Open to all, and an opportunit­y to meet together for a time of worship.

Sporting memories group will meet on Wednesday, February 5, at 7.30pm in the small hall within Livingston­e Memorial Church. Contact Iain Mcmillan 01698 823325/07847 875546 for more informatio­n. All welcome to attend.

The 6th Blantyre Guide Unit are hosting a bingo night in the Blantyre Miners’ Welfare on Monday, February 3, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £3 and can be obtained from any guide or leader at St Andrew’s.

The united service will take place on Sunday, February 9, in St Andrew’s Parish Church at 10am.

Calderglen High School Jazz Band Concert with various special guests, including 6th Blantyre Guides, will be held on Monday, March 23, in St Andrew’s Parish Church. Please put this date in your diaries and spread the word. This has always proved to be an excellent evening of high quality entertainm­ent. Tickets will be available nearer the time.

Brew and Blether continues to meet every Thursday between 10.30am and noon in the church hall. It would be lovely to see you for a cuppa and a wee blether. Everyone will be made most welcome.

ST MACHAN’S PARISH CHURCH

The Friday morning pancake morning starts at 10am in the church hall and runs until 11.30am. Come along and enjoy delicious pancakes, coffee and tea.

Worship on Sunday, January 26, starts at the usual time of 11am and will be conducted by Rev Alastair Mckillop. This will be a joint service when we will welcome our friends from Chalmers Parish Church and the praise band will be leading the sung worship. The children will be in their Sunday fun club. A crèche is available for babies and children up to three years.

On Tuesday, January 28, the senior friendship circle will meet at the usual time of 2pm when their guest will be Rev Elizabeth Clelland from Braehead Christian Healing and Retreat Centre.

Also on Tuesday, January 28, the Genesis Youth Club will meet. This club is for young people aged between PS to S1. The programme for the year includes games nights, guest speakers, quiz nights, ten pin bowling, bbq and Genesis Got Talent. The youth club meets on every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from August until May at 7.30pm in the church hall. Entry is by the back entrance to the church. Why not go along and have some fun and make new friends.

HAMILTON UNITED REFORMED CHURCH

On Sunday, January 26, our service will begin at the normal time of 11.30am, and we will be led in worship by Reverend Lindsey Sanderson, minister of Hamilton/east Kilbride Pastorate of United Reformed Church.

Tea/coffee will be available in the hall after the service.

HAMILTON OLD PARISH CHURCH

Our service this Sunday, January 26, is at 10.45am with worship being led by Rev Ross Blackman. For our younger members we have crèche and Sunday Live during the service. Following the service you are invited to enjoy fellowship over a tea or coffee in the halls.

Today, Thursday, if you find yourself at a loose end why don’t you come along to our film club at 1.30pm and see what Graham has in store.

Our Monday club meet at 1.30pm on Monday and later in the evening at 7.30pm the Saffronhal­l singers meet in the session room.

On Tuesday our Brownies meet at 6.15pm, Drama Kirk rehearsals continue at 7pm and the Old Kirk Dancers meet at 7.45pm.

All sections of our Boys’ Brigade meet from 5.30pm on Wednesday with the choir meeting at 7pm.

HAMILTON BAPTIST CHURCH

The services on Sunday, January 26, at 10.45am and 6.30pm will be led by the senior pastor, David Wilson.

The morning service will be followed by a light refreshmen­ts in the church halls. After the morning service, two members of the congregati­on will be available to pray with anyone feeling the need of prayer.

The guest speaker at the senior citizens’ meeting on Monday, January 27, at 2pm will be Alan Mcdonald from Glasgow.

The next Messy Church will be at 3pm on Saturday, February 1.

ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, UDDINGSTON

Deacon Alan Brown gave a very interestin­g talk at all masses last week on Our Lady of Guadalupe and explained the symbols in the new picture recently donated to our church.

Congratula­tions to our primary three pupils who enrolled for the Sacrament of Reconcilia­tion at the 10am mass last Sunday. Fr Towey asks us to keep them all in our prayers.

The Mary’s Meals coffee morning is on Sunday, January 26, after the 10am mass. Home baking and help on the day would be greatly appreciate­d.

Our monthly Medjugorje Mass begins with a rosary at 7pm on Monday, January 27. There is a meeting at 7pm on Sunday, February 9, for those going on our Pilgrimage to Lourdes, Fatima and Santiago. Final payment due.

People on the web from all over the world daily join the services from our church so why not have a look, especially if you are housebound for any reason. You are daily welcomed by Fr Towey at the beginning of each service and are remembered in our prayers.

On Monday the padre pio prayer group meet after the 9.30am mass, a silent prayer vigil for life is held from 8pm to 9pm and the SVDP meet at 6pm.

On Tuesday evenings the RCIA group meet at 7pm in the small hall.

On Wednesdays a divine mercy group meet at 3pm in the oratory and a prayer and praise group from 8pm to 9pm. AA meeting at 8pm in the hall.

The prayer garden is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am to 5pm.

Church cleaning is on Friday mornings after mass if anyone would like to help.

Tea is served in the hall after morning mass Monday to Friday and all are welcome.

Sunday masses: Vigil 4.30pm, 10am, noon, 6pm. Weekday mass: 9.30am. Rosary: 9.10am daily. Confession­s: Saturday 9 to 9.25am and after vigil mass.

GILMOUR AND WHITEHILL CHURCH

John Nicolson, locum of our linked charge, will conduct our service on Sunday, January 26, at 10am. A warm welcome awaits all. Tea and coffee are served after the service.

In the afternoon our outreach team will visit Aberglen Care Home for a short service of worship. This is always a very pleasant time for residents and staff and most rewarding for those who take part.

Tuesday, January 28, is the restart date for the Lyndale Club. Members are looking forward to once again meeting in fellowship at 7.30pm. Our guest speaker Liz Allan returns to tell us Nan’s Story. Nan was married to a soldier who served in the Desert Rats. Liz wrote a best-selling book about letters which he wrote to Nan and we will now hear how Nan coped during his time away. Please come along if you wish.

On Thursday, January 30, the memories tearoom will once again open at 1pm, a warm welcome to all who live with dementia and their carers. Please feel free to come along, enjoy a cuppa, company and some entertainm­ent and laughter.

The coffee lounge is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The drop-in is open on Thursdays all between 10am and noon.

On a Friday the community cafe is open 10am to 2pm. We also have clothing, so why not call in.

HILLHOUSE PARISH CHURCH

On Saturday, January 25, Messy Church will take place from 11.30am. All children must be accompanie­d by an adult. There will be the usual crafts and fun to do, and lunch will be provided free to all. Come and join us, bring a friend.

On Tuesday, January 28, the Guild of Friendship will have Drew Gebbie as speaker. All are welcome to attend this meeting. Tea and biscuits are also served.

On Wednesday Cameo meet at 7.30pm when we have the Rev Murdo Macdonald as our speaker. His topic will be Life and Faith on the Island of Lewis.

DALSERF CHURCH

Sunday worship on January 26, will take place in Dalserf Church at 11.30am and will be conducted by Reverend John Stevenson. The choir will meet at 10.30am.

Girls’ Brigade meets in Rorison Church on Monday, January 27.

Bible study will also meet Monday, January 27, in Hamilton Hall, Dalserf.

Nursing Home Services: On Friday this week we will be conducting the services at Clifton House (1.45pm), thereafter at both sections of Ballantine Court. Please come along and share a time of worship with the residents.

ST JOHN’S CHURCH HAMILTON

Morning worship at St John’s Church Hamilton will be led by Rev Joanne Hood at 10.45am on Sunday, January 26. Tea and coffee will be served in the forum after the service, please come along. The evening service will be held at 6.30pm. All will be made most welcome at either service.

Details of all the church organisati­ons are available in the centre.

The chapel, located to the right off the main corridor, is available to all for private use whenever the centre is open.

Messy Church will be held on Saturday, February 1, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The midweek service, lasting 15 to 30 minutes, will be held on Thursday, February 23, in the church sanctuary. Please come along.

St John’s Centre, Book Corner and Chapel open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.

HAMILTON SOUTH PARISH CHURCH

Our locum, Lynette, will conduct the service on Sunday at 11.15am. The Sunday School will meet during the service and tea, coffee etc will be available after the service. The Bible study will meet at 9.30am.

The craft sharing group will meet on Monday at 10am and the prayer group at 6.30pm.

The badminton group meets on

Tuesday at 8pm.

The Wednesday fellowship meets at 9.30am, followed by the coffee shop at 10am, and the popular community nearly new shop at 11.30am. Why not drop in, and grab a bargain and enjoy a chat over tea, coffee etc? In the evening the Snowdrops meet at 5.30pm followed by the Brownies at 6pm.

BLANTYRE OLD PARISH CHURCH

Morning worship on Sunday will be led by Rev Sarah Ross at 11am. Sunday club met as usual. Tea and coffee will be served in the hall following the service.

Tonight (Thursday, January 23) the guild meet at 7.15pm in the hall when they will hear about Eco congregati­ons. Next week they are holding a silent auction. This is open to everyone so come along, enjoy and perhaps find that something special. As always, tea and coffee will be served with some goodies.

The Kettle’s On Again is on Friday from 12.30pm to 1.30pm in the large hall with a simple soup lunch (or bring your own) and worship at 1.10pm.

Coffee and craft group meets in the session room on Saturday mornings from 10am to noon. Share your project, catch up on the news or learn/teach a skill.

Messy Church is on Sunday, January 28, at 4.30pm. The theme is story-telling.

HAMILTON WEST PARISH CHURCH

Our next service at the West will be on Sunday, January 26, at 11.30.

John Stewart, the Boys’ Brigade captain of 2nd Hamilton, gives a invite to any boys who would like to come along on a Friday night.
