Play like that more often
Sam Woods praised Hamilton’s performance in the 4-1 defeat against Celtic, but told them they need to take that into other games.
Accies face a tough schedule that had them at St Mirren last night (Wednesday), in Scottish Cup action against Rangers on Saturday, and at home to Aberdeen on Tuesday.
Woods, who is on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of this season, said:“it was a harsh result – the boys worked their socks off for 75, 80 minutes, and then it was just a cruel, cruel goal.
“Once that goal went in the heads dropped, and it’s hard from there, but we can be proud of that performance.
“It only makes the match at St Mirren even bigger though, and that’s one we have to prepare for.
“The red card for Jamie Hamilton changed the game, but it was always going to be hard when you’ve got 11 men. When you go down to 10 men, you have to get behind the ball and defend, and that’s what we did, so we can be proud of the performance.
“That’s the minimum now, we have to take that performance into these games, and I’m sure we will do OK.
“St Mirren are a team that are going to be around us in the league, it’s a big game and preparation started immediately after the Celtic game.
“We’re not going to be judged in games against the likes of Celtic, but we are going to be in games against St Mirren and teams like that.
“We can take a lot of positives from the performance against Celtic into the tougher games.
“The games are coming thick and fast, but February is always like that.”
