Cannabis plants recovered

The outbreak of coronaviru­s (COVID-19) was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organisati­on on Wednesday, March 11.

Police Scotland are linked in with partners in the health service, and the Scottish Government, which is leading on the response to the virus,.

Any required police response to an incident related to COVID-19 will be assessed to determine the appropriat­e response.

Officers will continue to deal with the public in the normal way, carrying out their dynamic risk assessment­s as usual whilst adopting appropriat­e precaution­s for infection control.

Over the past week the Hamilton Local Problem Solving Team (LPST) executed a search warrant at an address in the Blantyre area.

This was in relation to a number of thefts from both houses and vehicles which appear to be related.

Stolen property was recovered from this property and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

LPST continued their focus on offenders who breach bail condition imposed by the court. On March 13 and 14, there were five offenders arrested for allegedly breaching bail conditions within the Hamilton area. They are all required to attend court from custody the next lawful day.

In addition two sheriff apprehensi­on warrants were also executed.

During the early hours of March 12, police attended the Glenafton View area of Hamilton where they noted a strong smell of cannabis.

Entry was forced to a nearby property where 31 cannabis plants were discovered within.

A 34-year-old male has been reported in relation to alleged drug offences.

On March 13, a joint intelligen­ce-led operation was conducted involving LPST and Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit (DAVRU) officers.

Three properties were targeted in the Lanark, Douglas and Rigside areas and search warrants were executed with valuable intelligen­ce gained in relation to sale and supply of controlled drugs. A quantity of class-a drugs were recovered and numerous weapons seized. A 38-year-old male has been charged and reported for alleged misuse of drugs offences.
