Kids stay in touch

Nursery youngsters have fun‘ together’ each day

- LEONA GREENAN

Staff at Calderside Nursery in Blantyre have been communicating with pupils and their families through their very own‘daily delights’ challenges.

By using various social media platforms and chat groups the staff and youngsters are able to stay in touch and take part in a fun activity every day.

The challenges have ranged from songs, stories, uplifiting quotes and more and the staff have been delighted with the response.

A spokesperson for the nursery said: “The past few weeks have been difficult to say the least, with the term cut short for most of our children.

“At Calderside we recognise the importance of relationships to both parents and children. There have been opportunities where parents have required reassurance during this confusing time and through Facebook and social media we are able to provide this.

“Staff have all been contributing with what we call daily delights; where we have been communicating on a daily basis with challenges, songs, stories and uplifting quotes.

“Our team also took part in a clap for the children back in April and we recorded it through Zoom and sent it on to parents and carers.

“This was welcomed hugely and we received hundreds of comments of praise and delight from our families, pointing out how uplifting each clip is and the excitement shown in their child’s face as they play these clips over and over.

“We may be locked down, but we could never lock out and stop caring for those we have grown to love and care for and staff would like to send a huge hug out to all of our families and remind them to stay in and stay safe.”

Parents have also been exchanging photographs of their children with teachers whilst they do their home school work and daily exercises as shown here.
